QR code questions, answered
Everything you need to know before you print.
Can I use the QR codes commercially?
Yes. Codes you create are yours to use on products, packaging, ads and anything else, with no attribution needed.
Do QR codes expire?
Our codes go through a short link, so they work while your account is active: during the free trial and on Pro. If a subscription ends, scanning shows a neutral "paused" page instead of an error. Wi-Fi codes are the exception: they hold the network details directly.
What's the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?
A static code holds its content in the pattern and can never change. A dynamic code points to a short link, so you can edit it after printing and count scans. All our codes are dynamic except Wi-Fi, which phones can only read in static form.
Do you store the data I put in my QR codes?
Yes. Codes are saved to your account so you can edit them and see scan stats. Scans are counted without IP addresses (only time, country and device type), and we never sell your data.
What size should I print my QR code?
A good rule of thumb: the code's width should be at least one-tenth of the scanning distance. For a table card that's about 2–3 cm, and for a poster read from 3 metres about 30 cm.
Why won't my QR code scan?
The usual causes are low contrast, too small a print size, a logo that's too large, or no quiet margin around the code. Keep it dark on light, leave a margin and test before printing.
Which file format should I download?
PNG works for screens and most documents. SVG is a vector format that's perfect for professional printing at any size.
